Say hello to: AVIMIMUS

AVIMIMUS (ay-vih-MY-mus) "Bird Mimic" (Latin avis = bird + mimus = mimic, because it was birdlike)

A small Late Cretaceous COELUROSAUR discovered in Mongolia. It is known from a nearly complete skeleton. This BIPEDAL DINOSAUR was very birdlike. It had long, slim legs, birdlike FEET, short arms, a stubby TAIL, and a long, slender neck. Suggestive evidence indicates that feathers may have been attached on the arm bones. If this proves to be so, then this creature will be classified as a bird, rather than a dinosaur, because only birds have feathers.

Classification: Coelurosauria?, Theropoda?, Saurischia?
