Say hello to: GORGOSAURUS

GORGOSAURUS (GOHR-go-sawr-us) "Terible Lizard" (Greek gorgos = terible + sauros = lizard, referring to its enormous mouth and TEETH)

See ALBERTOSAURUS. These two dinsoaurs are now considered to be teh same animal, though Gorgosaurus may be a somewhat smaller species. The name Albertosaurus is the older name and there fore is the prefered one, even though the name Gorgosaurus was given to a hearly complete skeleton found in Alberta, Canada, whereas the name Albertosaurus was given to very fragmentary remains. FOSSILS assigned to Gorgosaurus have also been found in Baja California
