Say hello to: SEISMOSAURUS

SEISMOSAURUS (syz-mo-SAWR-us) "Earth-shaker Lizard" (Greek seismos = earthquake + sauros = lizard, because of its presumed size)

A Late Jurassic SAUROPOD found in New Mexico in 1986. It is known from most of a skeleton. It is estimated that Seismosaurus may have weighed 80 to 100 tons (73 to 91 metric tons) and may have been 120 feet (36.5 m) long and stood 18 feet (5.5 m) tall at the shoulders. If correct, this was the longest dinosaur known. This four-legged plant eater may have been even larger than ULTRASAURUS and may have weighed twice as much as APATOSAURUS!

Classification: Sauropoda, Sauropodomorpha, Saurischia
